Many people seem hesitant to put a sensitive document into an AI tool, while they don’t think twice about storing that very same document in cloud storage such as Google Drive or SharePoint.
On a work account, the exposure is the same. Same provider, same contract. Gemini in Google Workspace runs under the same terms as Drive: no training on your content, no human review. Same story with Microsoft’s Copilot.
But beware: personal subscriptions - even paid ones - often train on chats by default. As with any cloud service, what matters is understanding the terms and the exposure.
I think the hesitation comes from the human-like interaction. Storing a file in the cloud feels passive. Asking a chatbot about it feels like actively telling someone.
It’s the same cloud, the same provider, the same terms. AI just talks back.
